Dear EC members,
I would like to request the review of the following draft IEEE 802 LMSC submission by Monday. 25 March 2024, A.O.E, before tentatively asking the EC to consider approval of the submission through a 10-day letter ballot.
Recently, the European Conference of Postal and Telecommunications Administrations (CEPT) began a consultation on a draft ECC report 355 "Measurement-based compatibility studies assessing interference from Very Low Power (VLP) Wireless Access Systems including Radio Local Area Networks (WAS/RLAN) operating in 5945-6425 MHz to Communication Based Train Control (CBTC) systems operating in 5915-5935 MHz", which asks for public opinions
This draft ECC report is a technical work of SE45 (WAS/RLANs in the frequency band 5925 – 7125 MHz) to reassess the out-of-band (OOB) emission level for very low power (VLP) below 5935 MHz which was set to -45 dBm/MHz in the CEPT regulation for the lower 6 GHz band (i.e., 5945 MHz to 6425 MHz) in 2020 with a note saying that this value would be reassessed by the end of year 2024, and in the absence of any justified evidence, the value will be relaxed to -37 dBm/MHz.
An 802.18 participant prepared a response with an opinion that supports setting the value to -37dBm/MHz without any additional mitigation technique
. The submission was reviewed and approved by IEEE 802.18 on 21 March 2024 with the following voting results: 7 Yes, 0 No, 1 Abstain.
