[STDS-802-16] Task Group ballot of P802.1AC-Rev/D0.1

Please see the note below from John Messenger, Editor of the current 802.1AC revision project on the IEEE 802 MAC Service Definition. 802.1 is holding a Task Group ballot on this draft and is particularly seeking 802.16 input because one element of the draft is: text for support of the ISS by 802.16 based on 802.16k-2007 (accidentally never included in 802.1Q), modified to account for changes in more recent versions of 802.16 and adapted to 802.1Q terms. That 802.16k-derived material is in 12.1.3.

Please take the opportunity to review that material. Submit any comments using the instructions by the deadline of 29 August 2013. It would be helpful to copy the 802.16 reflector.

Regards,

Roger

NOTE: ALL RESPONSES SHOULD BE SENT TO THE NEW BALLOT RESPONSE LIST: STDS-802-1-ballot@listserv.ieee.org

PLEASE!

This Email is attached to an official 802.1 Task Group ballot form for P802.1AC-Rev Media Access Control (MAC) Service Definition D0.1.

As this is Task Group ballot, as opposed to a full Working Group ballot, all participants in the activities of 802.1 are entitled to submit a ballot, regardless of their voting status in 802.1.  This ballot is specifically also open to all members of 802.16, whose help in ensuring the correctness of this material is requested.

PLEASE NOTE that all voting members of 802.1 are obliged to respond to 2 out of the last 3 Task Group and/or Working Group ballots in order to maintain their voting rights. "Respond" in this context means sending in a ballot with a vote of "Approve", "Disapprove", or "Abstain" (for any reason).

The primary purpose of Task Group ballots is to solicit input that will assist the Editor to develop the draft to the point where it is ready for the Working Group ballot stage. A vote of "Approve" in this ballot is therefore appropriate if the document is ready for WG ballot; i.e., it is substantially complete, although there may still be technical details and issues to resolve at WG ballot. If you don't believe the draft is ready for WG ballot, the appropriate vote is "Disapprove", along with comments stating what changes need to be made.

The closing date of this ballot is:

29th August 2013

As is normal with such ballots, comments should specify not only what problems have been identified with the text, but also what the commenter proposes as a solution. Any comments accompanying the ballot must be presented using either of the templates to be found here:

http://www.ieee802.org/1/files/private/commenting-tool/MyBallot-tools/

Comments can be generated using Excel or an equivalent spreadsheet program that will read XLS or CSV format files. Attach the resultant file, in XLS or CSV format, to your ballot response email.
