IEEE 802.16's Session #114 was held the week of 4 March in Rosemont, IL, USA in conjunction with an IEEE 802 Plenary. The attendance list is posted.

New revision: IEEE Std 802.16-2017

IEEE Std 802.16-2017, the new revision of IEEE Std 802.16, was published by IEEE on 2 March 2018 following IEEE-SA approval on 6 December 2017. This standard represents the current version of the standard, encompassing all prior amendments. The IEEE 802 Executive Committee approved a request of the Working Group to initiate submission of IEEE Std 802.16-2017 to ISO/IEC JTC1/SC6 for adoption under the IEEE/JTC1 PSDO agreement.

Withdrawal of IEEE Std 802.16/Conformance04-2006

Following the Working Group's November decision to initiate the withdrawal of IEEE Std 802.16/Conformance04-2006, which provides PICS Proforma related to conformance to IEEE Std 802.16-2004, the withdrawal was agreed in IEEE-SA Sponsor Ballot. IEEE-SA's RevCom will consider a recommendation to withdraw the standard in April.

Hibernation of IEEE 802.16 Working Group

Following the Working Group's November decision, the Working Group entered a state of hibernation on 9 March 2018. Per the IEEE 802 LAN/MAN Standards Committee Policies and Procedures, a "hibernating WG may be returned to active status by the Sponsor in order for the WG to develop a new PAR."

On 9 March 2018, the IEEE 802 Executive Committee confirmed the appointment of Roger Marks as Chair of the Hibernating Working Group. Contact the WG Chair by email.

Per the IEEE 802 LMSC Operations Manual, "The chair of a hibernating WG shall maintain a list of experts that are available to answer questions and provide clarification about the standards and/or recommended practices generated by the WG." The Chair has designated the WG Members at the time of hibernation, plus the Technical Editor of IEEE Std 802.16-2017, as the list of experts.

Per the IEEE 802 LMSC Operations Manual, "Inquiries concerning the standards and recommended practices of a hibernating WG shall be directed to the chair of the hibernating WG. The chair shall attempt to resolve the inquiry using the core of experts, as necessary. If the chair is unable to resolve the inquiry, the chair may petition the Sponsor to reactivate the WG."
