IEEE 802.16 Session #49

IEEE 802.16's Session #49 was held on 7-10 May 2007 in Portland, OR, USA. This was an Interim Session of the Working Group. The session was hosted by Jose Puthenkulam, with Intel Corporation as Corporate Host. The site was selected during Session #44 in July 2006 based on a proposal and detail checklist. A proposal update was provided on 18 Jan 2007.

Meeting Schedule

The host has provided an information packet addressing logistical issues such as travel, transporation, meeting space, restaurants, and touring.

Hotel
The DoubleTree Hotel & Executive Meeting Center Portland - Lloyd Center is 20 minutes by light rail from Portland International Airport. The property includes 750 sleeping rooms, with business center, high speed internet access, restaurant, room service, fitness center, concierge, and pool. The hotel is located near Lloyd Center, Portland's largest shopping center, and is in walking distance of the Rose Garden Arena & Memorial Coliseum and part of the Portland light rail's Fareless Square.

Hotel Reservations
A limited number of rooms have been reserved at special rates until 15 April 2007. Reservations received after the cutoff date will be honored at this rate based on hotel availability.

Hotel rooms at the group rate are $135 per night, including in-room connected high-speed internet access and complimentary parking. You can also earn Hilton Honors points and airline miles.The group rate will apply three days before and three days following the official dates of the meeting, based on space availability.

Wednesday Social Event
Registrants are invited to a social event on the evening of Wednesday 9 May 2007, at no extra charge. Social event attendees will enjoy a dinner cruise on the Willamette River aboard the Portland Spirit. You may bring additional guests at a fee of $55 per person based on payment via the registration site.

Flying in
You will be arriving at the Portland International Airport (PDX). Transfer between PDX and the hotel is approximately 10 miles.

Rental Cars
Rental cars are available at the PDX international airport in the Parking Garage opposite the terminal. Hertz, Avis, National, Enterprise and Alamo are some of the choices.

Visa
The host will provide, on request, an invitation letter for visa applications. To request a letter of invitation, download the invitation request form and submit it per the instructions in the form. Tourist information
Portland, Oregon straddles the Willamette River near its confluence with the Columbia River. Portland is known as "The City of Roses" or "Rose City."
