802.16 Physical Layer Task Group

INVITATION FOR CONTRIBUTIONS - Session #5 (tentative version, dated 99/09/23)

Deadline: 24 December, 1999

{This Invitation to Contribute is tentative and subject to change, but can be used for planning purposes.}

The Medium Access Control (PHY) Task Group of the IEEE 802.16 Working Group on Broadband Wireless Access is preparing to define the PHY layer protocols for a broadband wireless access network specification. The specification will be developed in accordance with the "Development Plan for the 802.16.1 Air Interface Standard" (Document IEEE 802.16-99/05 ). As that document details, the specification will be based on submitted contributions, with increasing detail required as the process progresses. Mergers and improvements will be encouraged, with final selection scheduled for June 2000.

802.16 Working Group Session #5 will be held January 10-14, 2000 in Richardson, Texas, USA. Participants who have been invited to contribute and have responded appropriately will be offered time during the session to present a detailed description of their PHY proposal.

In order to be considered for presentation at the session, submissions from invited contributors are due by December 24, 1999. Joint submissions from multiple invited contributors are encouraged. Submissions must be in the form of the 802.16 Document Template.

The contribution should address each item in the "Physical Layer" Section of the current draft of the Outline of the 802.16.1 Air Interface Standard.

Submissions will be considered non-confidential and will be posted, as soon as possible following receipt, for public access on the 802.16 Web Site. Suggested improvements or merger proposals, of the nature of a friendly amendment, will be accepted until January 5, 2000.
