DRAFT - Invitation to Standard Board to Meet after IEEE 802 Meeting

Comments on the following (note will need support for Friday evening):

TO: MEMBERS OF IEEE STANDARDS BOARD
While you have already seen a ballot to approve the invitation to meet at
the end of the IEEE 802 meeting, I would like to provide some more details:
IEEE 802 will be meeting from Monday through Thursday at the same hotel. The
attendees of the Standards Board Series would be guests of IEEE 802 at the
Wednesday evening social, as well as meetings on Thursday. Normally, IEEE
802 attendees pay a meeting fee of $250 and this fee will be waived, but I
would ask that attendees on Monday and Tuesday for the IEEE 802 meeting
register with IEEE 802 and pay the meeting expense fee.

On Thursday, most of the Working Groups have their final meetings for the
week and Thursday evening the IEEE 802 Executive Committee meets. Again
Standards Board Participants are welcome to these meetings on Thursday. The
Standards Board Series will be held on Thursday, Friday and Saturday of this
week, with the Standards Board meeting held on Saturday. The hotel rate for
attendees will be $165.00 per night and a pointer to the hotel is at:
http://www.hyatt.com/usa/hilton_head_island/hotels/hotel_hhhhh.html (More
details next year)

I believe that both the IEEE-SA Standards Board and IEEE 802 participants
will benefit from this joint meeting. On the one hand, IEEE 802 participants
hear a lot about the Standards Board, but don't get to attend the meetings.
I would hope a number of participants, particularly those in leadership
positions within 802 will avail themselves of the opportunity to attend the
Standards Board Series. From the IEEE-SA standpoint, I would welcome you to
attend the meetings within IEEE 802 to better understand how key industry
wireline and wireless standards are developed. I would hope that we can
arrange a Standards Board Forum on Friday evening that describes the IEEE
802 activities.
