[802SEC] FCC NPRM on 6GHz

hello all,

at thursday’s weekly 802.18 teleconference we reviewed the FCC FNPRM on 6GHz that has come out and the due date for comments was announced of 29june20.

this is the next step in opening up the 6GHz band for unlicensed operation that we have been discussing for about 2 years.  the last step was the initial Report & Order that the FCC approved in April, now the FNPRM is seeking comments on more details, e.g. Very Low Power, PSD limits on Low Power Indoor, standard power portables with Auto Frequency coordination, higher power point to point, contention based protocol, etc.

when IEEE 802 worked on comments for the first NPRM in late 2018, there were different views among the different working groups and to find something we could comment on that IEEE 802 as a whole could agree on was in essence just letting the FCC know about the different standards we have in the band and about them.

at this point there has not been any text for comment contributions and we would need a complete draft done in the next 7-10 days, so at the teleconference it was suggested for me to send this out to let all know and if anyone was able to write up comments considering 802 as a while for consideration then we could review them at next week’s .18  thursday’s teleconference.
