Re: [STDS-802-11-TGAI] TGai D3.1 available -- review of implementation of comment resolutions

Hello Rob,

Thanks for these resolutions, and my apologies for not finding the time

to review them when you sent them to me earlier this week.  Here are

my comments on some of them:

10.3.2

Assuming DMG STAs can do FILS, then there needs to be an arrow from State 2 to State 5 saying "Successful FILS authentication" and the arrow from State 5 to State 1 needs to be duplicated to go from State 5 to State 2, with the former labelled "(non-DMG)" and the latter labelled "(DMG)"

Make the changes specified in the comment

Reject       DMG STA in the DMG BSS does not utilize the IEEE 802.11 authentication frames which is not compatible with the FILS authentication scheme

This is not correct.  DMG STAs can use 802.11 authentication.  See 11mc/D3.0 10.3.1:

State 1: Initial start state for non-DMG STAs and for DMG STAs that perform IEEE Std 802.11 authentication.
State 2: Initial start state for DMG STAs that do not perform IEEE Std 802.11 authentication.

10.3.2

What happens if a DMG STA undergoes deauthentication?

Add "3. Deauthentication (DMG STA)" to the arrow from State 4 to State 2 and to the arrow from State 3 to State 2

Reject    As per IEEE 802.11ad-2012 section 11.1.3 the IEEE 802.11 deauthentication shall not be used.

802.11ad-2012 is superseded by 802.11mc/D3.0, which allows (de)authentication

10.3

The purpose of the States in 10.3 is to define what kinds of frames may be sent when.  The introduction of a State 5 is not necessary.  The reference is to the encompassing subclause

Remove all references to State 5 (if there is some particular state FILS STAs need to have when authenticated but not associated, this should be covered in a different or new subclause)

Reject         This State 5 is where the FILS STA to carry on the FILS authentication/association by disabling the IEEE 802.1x.   Note: This is duplicated with duplicated with CID 6107 and motioned and resolved

What is the difference between State 5 and State 2?

10.3.1

"A FILS STA that has dot11FILSImplemented equal to true and dot11FILSActivated equal to true" -- the first adjective already implies the latter two

Delete "that has dot11FILSImplemented equal to true and dot11FILSActivated equal to true"

Revised,     By removing FILS in front of STA in the sentence.

I thought we had agreed to change all "STA that has dot11FILSActivated to true"s to "FILS STA"s?  Note dot11FILSImplemented doesn't appear anywhere else

Regards,

Mark

We will start as before a review process to allow the submitters of comment resolutions

to review the implementation of the resolutions.

Of course, anyone is welcome to provide feedback as part of the review process, but in addition,

I would like to suggest the following persons to take a lead in reviewing the implementation.
