Hi Jay, Thanks for sharing your comments. The concept of “primary link” and “non-primary link” here is quite similar to primary 80 + secondary 80 of non-contiguous 160 in 11ax. The non-AP MLD will
have multi-link setup with the soft AP MLD through the primary link. All legacy and single link STAs are associated with the soft AP on the primary link. An AP affiliated with a soft AP MLD on the non-primary link is still an AP not a non-AP STA because it
might optionally support some features of a regular AP. That is why we want to define the term of “primary link” or “non-primary link” which are not defined in the current spec. By the way, the naming “primary link” or “non-primary link” can be further discussed.
Let me know if you have further comments. Thanks, Kaiying From: Yang, Zhijie (NSB - CN/Shanghai) [mailto:zhijie.yang@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx]
Hi Kaiying, Thanks for your PDT. For the following sentence, I understand only the AP on primary link can delivery Beacon and probe response frame, the AP on non-primary link , seems following non-AP STA
behavior, can’t delivery Beacon frame. If so, I understand it’s not defined the AP can’t send Beacon/probe response frame in current SPEC(it’s fine to say the non-AP STA on non-primary link ).
Please correct me if I make any mistake. BTW, is it defined the term of “primary link” or “non-primary link” in current SPEC ? A soft AP MLD shall designate one link of an NSTR link pair as the primary link to transmit Beacon and Probe Response frames. The other link of the NSTR link pair
is the non-primary link. Thanks Best Regards Jay Yang From: Kaiying Lu <Kaiying.Lu@xxxxxxxxxxxx>
Hi all, Thanks again for sharing your comments during today’s call. I updated the PDT text based on some comments and offline discussion. Please review it. https://mentor.ieee.org/802.11/dcn/20/11-20-1407-17-00be-pdt-mac-mlo-soft-ap-mld-operation.docx In the meanwhile, let me try to clarify further about the intention of this PDT. The text is to provide general restrictions to a soft AP MLD regarding the capabilities which can be used to differentiate a soft AP MLD from a regular AP MLD. The details about soft AP MLD features will be further discussed and
covered during comment resolution. And also define that one primary link is designated for the NSTR link pair to transmit Beacon/Probe response. Since there is at most one NSTR link pair supported in soft AP MLD, there would be at most one primary link. A non-AP
STA/MLD can associate with the soft AP(MLD) through the primary link. Details will be further discussed and covered during comment resolution. For channel access, the basic principle is to reuse the “sync start time procedure” with only one additional restriction on non-primary link so that an MLD may transmit on the non-primary link only together with primary link.
Details will be further discussed and covered during comment resolution. If you have further comments, please let me know. Thanks in advance for your support! Kaiying From: Kaiying Lu
Hi Nancy, Thanks very much for your comments. I am fine with your suggestion to separate the two cases and the proposed wording. Best regards, Kaiying From: Nancy Lee [mailto:000013df95aa5f4e-dmarc-request@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx]
Signify Classified - Internal Hi Kaiying, I have a couple of editorial comments on 11/1407r16 that you presented on today’s call. The following bullet item is difficult to parse:
–
A STA affiliated to the non-AP or an AP affiliated to the soft AP MLD may initiate a PPDU transmission to its associated soft AP or non-AP STA
in the non-primary link only if the STA or AP affiliated to the same MLD in the primary link is also initiating the PPDU as a TXOP holder with the same start time. One way to clarify would be to insert the word “respectively” before “in the non-primary link”. Even better would be to separate the
two cases, i.e.,:
–
A STA affiliated to the non-AP may initiate a PPDU transmission to its associated soft AP in the non-primary link only if the STA affiliated to
the same MLD in the primary link is also initiating the PPDU as a TXOP holder with the same start time.
–
An AP affiliated to the soft AP MLD may initiate a PPDU transmission to its associated non-AP STA in the non-primary link only if the AP affiliated
to the same MLD in the primary link is also initiating the PPDU as a TXOP holder with the same start time. Also since there are two different constraints listed, I think the preceding sentence should be: STAs affiliated to a non-AP MLD that is associated with a soft AP MLD and APs affiliated to a soft AP MLD shall follow the procedure defined in 35.3.13.6 “Start time
sync PPDUs medium access” when intending to transmit in the non-primary link with the following additional constraints. Regards, Nancy Lee Signify From: Kaiying Lu <Kaiying.Lu@xxxxxxxxxxxx>
