Hi Minyoung, and all, The document (802r1) , presented in 11be Tuesday PM2 11be MAC meeting, proposes that AP MLD signals an indication of the capability requirement for the reception of the
group addressed frames buffered in an AP affiliated with the AP MLD for non-AP MLDs in EMLSR mode. During the discussion with Minyoung, further analyses on the proposal are shown as follows: Current draft has not specified that “The non-AP MLD in EMLSR mode that expects to receive group addressed frame(s) buffered in an AP affiliated with an AP MLD on one of the EMLSR
links corresponding to the AP should switch to the link before or at the scheduled group addressed frame transmission time.” The reason is that some non-AP MLD in EMLSR mode may receive group addressed frames using low rates in listening operation depending
on the implementation. So assuming one case that there exists a non-AP MLD in EMLSR mode, which can receive group addressed frames using low rates but cannot receive group addressed frames in high rates
in listening operation, how does the non-AP MLD choose to stay in listening operation or switching to the link corresponding to the AP with the buffered group addressed frames before or at their scheduled transmission time? This is confusing since the non-AP
MLD doesn’t know whether the group addressed frames will be transmitted in low rates or high rates. I think that the proposal would be helpful for the non-AP MLD in EMLSR mode to know whether to switch to the link on which the group addressed frames will be transmitted before
or at their scheduled transmission time if the non-AP MLD expects to receive the frames on this link. As most group addressed frames can be transmitted in low rates, no EMLSR Operation Indication bit needs to be carried with TIM element in Beacon frame. Only when group addressed
frames will be transmitted in high rates and there exists associated non-AP MLD in EMLSR mode, EMLSR Operation Indication bit needs to be carried with TIM element in Beacon frame. So the overhead introduced by the proposal is low, and it is clear for non-AP
MLD in EMLSR mode to know how to receive the group addressed frames. Any suggests are welcome. Hope the discussion would be helpful for the improvement of the specification for the delivery and reception of the group addressed frames for EMLSR.
