[STDS-802-11-TGBH] TGbh members: STRAW POLLS are to be held on Feb 22 call

All,

On today’s TGbh call, we reached consensus agreement on a “way forward” plan.

We will hold Straw Polls on the TGbh call, on Tuesday Feb 22 (9:00 am), on the 9 proposals we have received as “solutions” in TGbh.

Here is a summary list of those proposals:  (For a complete list of submissions supporting these proposals see the TGbh agenda deck (11-22/0348r1, slide 18), or the Issues Tracking document (11-21/0332r30, page 15).)

• 11-21/1083r0: A Signature-based Method for Identifying STAs … (reviewed July 15)
• 11-21/1673r10: Proposed Text for IRMA (briefly reviewed Oct 21, updated)
• 11-21/1379r3: Proposed text for ID Query Action frame (reviewed Oct 21)
• 11-21/1839r1: Transient STA ID (reviewed Nov 10, updated)
• 11-22/0117r0: Secure Device ID exchange concept (reviewed Jan 18)
• 11-22/0154r0: Opaque device ID (reviewed Jan 21)
• 11-22/0158r3: STA generated device ID (reviewed Feb 8, updated)
• 11-22/0301r0: MAAD MAC text (not reviewed yet)
• 11-22/0187r1: Network generated device ID (reviewed Feb 8, updated)

Each proposal will be put to a Straw Poll asking:

• “How much priority do you put on continuing work on this proposal?” 
• Answer choices: High/Medium/Low.
• (Note: There is no option for “Abstain” or “Need more information”.  Please come to the call on Feb 22 prepared to vote H/M/L, or simply withhold voting.)

Some additional analysis information on the proposals can be found in these documents: 11-22/0296r6, and 11-22/0343r0.  This information is provided “as is” as the best guess by the authors, and may be incomplete, and/or individuals may have additional information or other criteria they think are important in making the “way forward” decision.

 

A reminder to the group: We are driving to have some text for the amendment out of the March session (preferably, a Draft 1.0!).  As such, we need to push for actual text to be included into the amendment.  The straw polls above are not limited to proposals that have provided actual amendment text, but that will be a next step (and soon!) for any proposal with support for “continuing work on this proposal” that doesn’t have text already.
