After the original presentation of PASN ID contribution, i have some offline discussion with Okan as below. Basically i think the current paragraphs in contribution(789r5) indicate the Device ID and PASN ID are in parallel and separate. However, Okan and I would like to get some feedback from our 11bh members
clarify the procedure could support to do PASN first and then do 4-HS, which means to clarify in the main text.
[Yan] I have clarified that the initial connection can be either of PASN and association in the main text and the relevant paragraphs are in parallel , which means such 2 cases:
a） if the non-AP STA doesn't provide a device ID in association case, the AP may provide both of device ID and PASN ID(illustrated as figure 12-0b)
b）if the non-AP STA doesn't provide a PASN ID in first PASN frame, the AP may provide both of device ID and PASN ID (no illustration, but this paragraph can imply the initial connection is PASN case)
[Okan] The more I read 12.2.12.1 Device ID mechanism section, the more I get confused actually 😃 Somewhat device ID is related to PASN ID. But, it also looks like it stands alone. It is because in your contribution we have device ID and PASN ID separately, and we have to define a way (explanation) to use them 1) together and 2) separately. Sometimes, I think of Graham’s approach. In his contribution, it looks simpler because we have just device ID, and whenever we use PASN, we just put PASN ID as device ID.
My suggestion is to get some feedback from the group. If everyone is okay with it, you can proceed.
