Subject: Re: [STDS-802-11-TGM] Proposal to extend element ID space

I have the following comments on 14/1353r2:

Do we restrict the allocation of existing Element IDs?[mgr'1]

First come / first served[mgr'2]

Use for basic rate frames only?[mgr'3]

Reserved

222–255[mgr'4]

N/A

Reserved for E[mgr'5]  lements using the Element ID Extension[mgr'6]

<ANA>[mgr'7]

0-255

The frame body components specified for many management subtypes result in elements ordered by ascending values of the Element ID field and Element ID Extension field (when present)[mgr'8]  , with the exception of the MIC Management element (8.4.2.57 (Management MIC element)). If present, the MIC Management element appears at the end of the robust management frame body. See 9.24.6 (Element parsing) on the parsing of elements.

Subject: [STDS-802-11] Proposal to extend element ID space

--- This message came from the IEEE 802.11 Working Group Reflector ---

Dear 802.11 members,

TGmc considered a proposal to extend the Element ID space.

The proposal as updated during the meeting is captured in document: https://mentor.ieee.org/802.11/dcn/14/11-14-1353-02-000m-proposal-to-extend-element-id-space.doc.  This proposal will be brought to motion during a TGmc meeting today (thursday).

Sending to the larger reflector because of the interdependency with the WG discussion on use of the Element ID space.

The impact of the TGmc proposal is that it will consume a small number of Element IDs (3).

Best Regards,

Adrian P STEPHENS

Yes.  For example, things which need to be requestable using a Request element should be

 No

 What is the rationale?

So this row is not, in fact, changing for now, right?  (Document shows zero-sum changes)

 e

 +”field”?

 You’re requesting three assignments, no?

What does this mean?  What is the precedence?  I think you need to say ascending EID and then for an EID using an EIDE, by ascending EIDE
