--- This message came from the IEEE 802.11 Working Group Reflector ---
Dear
Bruce and 802.11 members, I
hereby announce my nomination for the 802.11 working group chair election in March 2014. I
also announce my nomination for 802.11 working group vice chair in the event that someone else is elected to the chair position. It
would be an honour and a privilege to serve the 802.11 membership as its chair. But
failing that, I would be happy to continue to serve as vice chair. I
have letters of endorsement for both positions from my manager. Adrian

Bruce Kraemer [mailto:bkraemer@xxxxxxxxxxx] Dear 802.11 members,
1.
As previously noted, elections for 802.11 officers will occur at the upcoming March
2014 Plenary session being held in Beijing China. For 802.11 that means
that the Chair and two Vice-Chair positions must be decided Nominations for these
positions are open.
2.
Although it is possible that a candidate could be nominated at the opening March plenary it is traditional,
and recommended, that candidate nominations occur by about 30 days prior to the election event. This time period allows adequate time for members to consider the candidates and for candidates to prepare for the election.. Note
that properly completed endorsements will be required prior to confirmation: According
to the IEEE 802 LMSC P&P, "Any person to be confirmed by the Sponsor shall, prior to confirmation by the Sponsor, file with the Recording Secretary a letter of endorsement from their supporting entity" Appointed
members of the EC, WG Chairs and WG Vice Chairs are all confirmed by the Sponsor and so anyone who would like to run for one of these positions or anticipates being appointed to one, will be required to submit an endorsement letter signed by the Sponsor member
and "an individual who has management responsibility for the Sponsor member." prior
to a confirmation vote. In
addition, the 802 EC Chair requires that members who are to be confirmed also file signed statement of affiliation with the Recording Secretary. Acceptable
templates for these two documents can be found under the heading Documents
for EC members at:
http://www.ieee802.org/devdocs.shtml
