--- This message came from the IEEE 802.11 Working Group Reflector ---
Dear 802.11 members, As mentioned at the last session, there is an early documentation project as follows: ·
Scan former chair Vic Hayes’ paper archive of 802.11 documents 1990-1999 ·
Perform OCR ·
Identify which are necessary (i.e., where there is no existing .pdf version) ·
Rename to identify submission ·
Update document tables to identify where scanned .pdfs are available ·
Upload to archive documents area Status: The scanning has been done. A trial of the other steps has been done, and the result is in year 1990. The IEEE-SA has generously identified funding for the remaining work ($1500). A resource has been identified to do the work. I am connecting the dots between these and defining a process to make this workable. I’d previously mentioned “crowdsourcing” this project. This appears to be unnecessary, given that the IEEE-SA has offered funding. If the funding fails to cover the work, then we may seek volunteer effort to complete the project. At the moment there is no particular deadline. I should imagine the work will be done by the September session, but is likely to be done sooner than that.
