DESCRIPTION;LANGUAGE=en-US:G’day all\n\nAt the IEEE 802.11 WG meeting in
Warsaw an ad hoc was authorised by the Chair to discuss the question of ho
w (and if) to answer a request from 3GPP RAN1 that future revisions of IEE
E 802.11 adopt an ED of -72dBm\, instead of the current ED of -62dBm. The
ad hoc was named during the Friday plenary and will be known as the IEEE 8
02.11 PDED ad hoc (or was it the EDPD ad hoc – I forget!)\n\nThe decisio
n to form the IEEE 802.11 PDED ad hoc was the result of a discussion and s
traw poll during the mid-session plenary based on a summary (11-16-1263-00
 <https://mentor.ieee.org/802.11/dcn/16/11-16-1263-00-0000-what-should-802-

n in IEEE 802.19 WG earlier in the week of another more expansive document
  (19-16-0110-00<https://mentor.ieee.org/802.19/dcn/16/19-16-0110-00-0000-a
-discussion-of-ed-pd.pptx>).\n\nThe first teleconference of the IEEE 802.1
1 PDED ad hoc was held on Tuesday\, 27 September 2016 at 5pm ET\, as appr
oved by the IEEE 802.11 WG (see agenda<https://mentor.ieee.org/802.11/dcn/
 16/11-16-1291-00-0000-pded-ad-hoc-agenda-27-sept-2016.pptx> and draft minu
 tes<https://mentor.ieee.org/802.11/dcn/16/11-16-1306-00-0000-pded-meeting-
minutes-27-sept-2016.doc>). During the teleconference the Chair:\n•
Introduced aims of group\n• Suggested an evaluation mechanism ba
sed on testing/simulation\n• Made a call for submissions/ideas\n\n
The second teleconference of the IEEE 802.11 PDED ad hoc was cancelled bu
t the third teleconference was held on Tuesday\, 11 October 2016 at 5pm ET
  (see agenda<https://mentor.ieee.org/802.11/dcn/16/11-16-1331-00-0000-pded
 -ad-hoc-agenda-11-oct-2016.pptx> and minutes<https://mentor.ieee.org/802.1
 1/dcn/16/11-16-1334-00-0000-pded-meeting-minutes-11-oct-2016.doc>). During
the teleconference:\n• The status of the work and options for an
response to 3GPP were outlined\n• There was a brainstorming in whi
ch it appeared there was consensus this is an important topic\n• T
he Chair highlighted the importance of people making written submissions\n
 • A number of people indicated they are considering making submiss
ions\n\nThe fourth teleconference is cancelled because it conflicts with t
he WFA F2F meeting in Madrid. This is the invitation for the fifth teleco
nference. I would really appreciate submissions on the topic\, or at least
submissions that indicated a plan to address the topic. Please send me re
quests for an agenda item ASAP.\n\nI would also appreciate a volunteer to
act as secretary for the ad hoc. Thank you to Thomas Derham (Broadcom) for
acting as secretary at the first and third teleconferences. Each voluntee
r will receive a beverage of their choice from me at the San Antonio meeti
ng. ☺\n\nAndrew Myles\nChair of IEEE 802.11 PDED ad hoc\n\nNote: regardl
