[STDS-802-11] notification of a survey concerning the economic impacts of the Advanced Encryption Standard

--- This message came from the IEEE 802.11 Working Group Reflector ---

Dear 802.11 members,

If you have an opinion about the impact of the AES,  you might want to fill in the following online survey.

The Technology Partnership Office (TPO) of the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) is conducting a retrospective economic impact assessment of NIST’s Advanced Encryption Standard (AES) program (1996-2017). The survey and analysis is being conducted by RM Advisory Services on NIST’s behalf.

This economic impact assessment will help us understand the effectiveness of NIST program in cryptography that stakeholders understand (return-on-investment) and will be a source of program management “lessons-learned.” Your response will help NIST improve its future industry-supporting programs.

We hope you take time to respond to this request and help NIST determine how its contributions support the nation’s (indeed, the world’s) information security infrastructure. Neither NIST nor any government agency will receive the raw survey data. All survey data will be interpreted and reported ONLY in aggregated form, as averages and ranges. No individual person, individual agency or company, or a unit thereof will be discernable.

The survey will take approximately 35 minutes to complete. To begin, click here: https://www.research.net/r/NIST-AES-economic-impact-study. We hope to have your completed response not later than April 9, 2018.

Thank you in advance for your support,

Donna Dodson, NIST Fellow and Chief Cybersecurity Advisor

Best Regards,

Adrian Stephens

Dear EC Members,

We have been cleared by the IEEE to use 802 EC or WG/TAG reflectors to broadcast this request for participating in a survey to support the research of Technology Partnership Office (TPO) of the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST). They are conducting a retrospective economic impact assessment of NIST’s Advanced Encryption Standard (AES) program (1996-2017). The survey and analysis is being conducted by RM Advisory Services on NIST’s behalf.

The survey is intended to gather useful information directly related to the economic impact of a standard we reference (AES).

Feel free to share it with your groups.

Regards,

--Paul
