Hi Youhan and all,
I was part of the DMG development.
The proposed change is OK in general.
My only comment is that the text should be correct for any direction in the intended cover area. However, STA/AP may have different Quasi-Omni antennas and will have multiple main antenna beams, which complicated the text.
Thank you,
Alecs

This is a courtesy notice that TGmf has marked the following
CID 346 as Ready for Motion.
I think the suggestion from the commenter makes sense, but sending out this courtesy email so that
60 GHz/DMG experts could also take a look
before the CID is motioned at the January Interim meeting.
If you have concerns/feedback, please respond back to this thread.

"the antenna gain of the main beam of a quasi-omni antenna pattern should be at most 15 dB lower than the antenna gain in the main beam" is ambigous. Is it "the antenna gain ... is at most" the
value which is 15 dB lower, or "the antenna gain ... is at most 15 dB lower" (but could be "less lower")?
|
Change to, "the antenna gain of the main beam of a quasi-omni antenna pattern should be higher than or equal to the antenna gain in the main beam for a directional pattern minus 15 dB"

Redline REVmf D1.0 P3880L26
20.9 Beamforming
20.9.1 Beamforming concept
DMG STAs use a quasi-omni antenna pattern. For a STA that is not operating in a TDD SP (see 10.39.6.2.2 (SP with TDD channel access)),
the antenna gain of the main beam of a quasi-omni antenna pattern should be at most 15 dB lower than the antenna gain in the main beam for a directional pattern the
antenna gain of the main beam of a quasi-omni antenna pattern should be higher than or equal to the antenna gain in the main beam for a directional pattern minus 15 dB, unless the STA is an EDMG STA that supports
beamforming for asymmetric links (see 10.42.10.3 (Beamforming for asymmetric links)). In this case, the difference in antenna gain may be greater than 15 dB.
