stds-802-16-mobile: IEEE 802.16 Study Group on Mobile Broadband Wireless Access: infoan Call for Contributions
On 15 March 2002, the IEEE 802.16 Working Group on Broadband Wireless Access
voted to initiate the IEEE 802.16 Study Group on Mobile Broadband
Wireless Access (MBWA). The action was approved later that day by the
IEEE 802 LMSC Sponsor Executive Committee.
The MBWA Study Group's scope is "Mobile Broadband Wireless Access
Network Operating in Licensed Frequency Bands and Supporting Mobility
at Vehicular Speeds". The group is chartered to develop a PAR for a
new project and to "make a recommendation on the placement of the
project within IEEE 802 and/or existing Working Groups." Mark Klerer,
who initiated the proposal and organized the 802 tutorial and Call
for Interest held last week, is the Chair.

The Study Group will first meet at 802.16's Session #19 (20-24 May
2002 in Calgary, Canada <http://ieee802.org/16/meetings/mtg19>). In
preparation for that meeting, IEEE 802.16 has issued a Call for
Contributions seeking input to the Study Group:
