stds-802-16: March Tutorial Request
I would like to schedule a tutorial in March entitled "Upper
Millimeter-Wave History, Technology and Applications for Gigabit
Communications Services". Some details are below, and the Tutorial
Request Form is here:
http://ieee802.org/16/docs/02/C80216-02_03.pdf
We strongly prefer Tuesday and have booked the #3 slot (6:30-8 pm) with Dawn.
The topic is closely aligned with 802.16, but there may be some
interest from other groups, particularly due to the concept of
transporting Gigabit Ethernet by radio.
Your comments are welcome.

Abstract:
The upper millimeter-wave bands, typically 40 to 320 GHz, are quickly
emerging as the bands of choice for high-speed multi-gigabit
communications services. Historically significant uses of this
technology have primarily been focused on government applications
but, with the emergence of lower cost devices, commercial
opportunities abound. This presentation will cover technology from
the device to the system level, with focus on the current state of
the art as well as future concepts. The data focus will be on legacy
applications like SDH/PDH as well as Gigabit Ethernet and fiber
channel transport. The current status of the regulatory environment
will be discussed, with particular emphasis on the international
harmonization of frequency bands and standards.
