[802SEC] new 802.16 PAR for consideration in July
Dear SEC:
In accordance with the 30-day rule, I am hereby notifying you of the following 802.16 PAR for consideration at the July 802 Plenary:
P1802.16.1: Draft Standard for Conformance to IEEE Standard 802.16 - Part 1: Protocol Implementation Conformance Statement (PICS) Proforma for 10-66 GHz WirelessMAN-SC Air Interface <http://ieee802.org/16/docs/02/80216-02_29.pdf>
Scope: "This standard represents the Protocol Implementation Conformance Statement (PICS) Proforma, per ISO/IEC Standard 9646-7 (1995) and ITU-T X.296, for conformance specification of base stations and subscriber stations based upon the WirelessMAN-SC (10-66 GHz) air interface specified in IEEE Std 802.16."
Purpose: "This document describes the capabilities and options within the WirelessMAN-SC (10-66 GHz) air interface specified in IEEE Std 802.16. It is to be completed by the supplier of a product claiming to implement the protocol. It indicates which capabilities and options have been implemented and what limitations might prevent interworking. It allows a customer of the product to evaluate its conformance and to determine whether the product meets the customer's requirements."
This PAR is exempt from the Five Criteria requirement because the project "introduces no new functionality".
We are open to comments from other Working Groups and would ask that they be delivered to us by 5 pm Tuesday of the Plenary Week.
