stds-802-16: release of IEEE P802.16e/D1
Dear IEEE 802.16 Colleagues:
I would like to announce the release of a new draft, P802.16e/D1-2004
("Draft Amendment to IEEE Standard for Local and Metropolitan Area
Networks- Part 16: Air Interface for Fixed and Mobile Broadband
Wireless Access Systems- Amendment for Physical and Medium Access
Control Layers for Combined Fixed and Mobile Operation in Licensed
Bands"):
<http://ieee802.org/16/private/drafts/tge/P80216e_D1.zip>
This is the first draft in the P802.16e project. It is available
using the 802.16 user name and password. For more information on
password-protected access, see:
http://ieee802.org/16/password.html
IEEE-SA has recently become more responsive about putting our drafts
up for sale in a timely fashion. All current 802.16 drafts (except
this new one) are in the catalog:
http://www.ili-info.com/ieee802drafts
I'll submit P802.16e/D1 and ask to have it added as soon as possible.
I'd like to again thank Ron Murias for the challenging editing
assignment, with extra work in converting the working document into
draft format. Thanks, Ron!
Ron has also provided a Commentary database, including editor's
notes, from the final Working Group Review that led to this draft:

Please remember that this draft is not a standard, and we have a lot
of work ahead before we wrap up the project. We will do that work
within the framework of the ballot process, which, as Geoff Thompson
says, is done not to "approve" the draft but to "improve" the draft.
Working Group Letter Ballot #14, with this draft under review, will
follow shortly.
Cheers,
Roger
