[STDS-802-16] Fwd: Letter to IEEE 802 from CCSA
Dear IEEE 802 EC Colleagues,
Last month, the IEEE 802.16 Working Group held its Session #31 in
Shenzhen, China. The session was a great success in many ways,
including the attendance which, at 228, set an 802.16 record

During the session, an IEEE-SA delegation (of Jim Carlo, Terry
deCourcelle, and me) visited Beijing for an interesting and
informative meeting with the Standardization Administration of China.
We later held a productive, stimulating, and enjoyable meeting in
Shenzhen with several officials of China's Ministry of Information
Industry (including Mr. Wen Ku, the Director General of MII's Science
and Technology Department) and the China Communications Standards
Association (including Ms. Shumin Cao, Deputy Secretary-General of
CCSA).
Many individuals from Chinese industry, government, and
standardization efforts attended the session. Ms. Dang Meimei, who
chairs CCSA's working group in Broadband Wireless Access,
participated and presented a liaison report during the Closing
Plenary. We are looking forward to seeing her again at the July 802
Plenary.
Today, Shumin Cao sent me a followup letter "to IEEE 802". She
mentioned exploring cooperation regarding "IEEE 802.3, 802.11 and
802.16 and other possible areas." You can find the letter here:

Please let me know if I can answer any questions or assist you in
communicating with CCSA regarding your group's activities.
Regards,
Roger
