Re: [STDS-802-16] scanning..

Hi,
I recommend you to re-read the relevant text from the standard.
UCD/DCD and MAP messages are not related.
The specific fields you mentioned defines the contention behavior limits, i.e. for an SS starting contention to know with which backoff parameter to start and what its backoff limit. Each SS will have different backoff value according to its contention status. The slots allocated for contention are published in the UL MAP and are used to count opportunities for the backoff behavior.
So, the DCD/UCD are (long) periodic general DL/UL control messages.
Itzik.

Hi LEE,

Thanks for your prompt reply.

I accept DCD/UCD messages are transmitted by a pre-determined period of time (max of 10 sec).

Let us assume a condition that the MAP messages change continuously whenever the DL sub frame period starts. In this case the UCD frame should also accommodate DL-MAP and UL-MAP as UCD frame contains some field called RNG Back off start, RNG Back off end, Request back off start and Request back off end which contains the contention window size details and these contention window details will vary from one cycle (i.e. combination of DL/UL sub frame) to another cycle.

So at least UCD message should accommodate the MAP messages (considering DCD message is not altered) in every DL sub frame transmitted. I am right???If I went wrong any where please correct me.

Plz Reply.

Thanks in advance

Hi, All

1. DCD & UCD must be sent periodically using constant according to Table 342.
2. DL-MAP, UL-MAP shall be sent whenever the maps are changed.(See 8.3.5.1)
In fact, DCD & UCD are the specifications of the channel(time and frequency).
DL-MAP, UL-MAP are chanel assignment structure and they are more adaptive
to the change of service Qos. If you see that  "Lost DL-MAP Interval" is shorter
than DCD Interval, you may get some idea.

OK?

Subject: [STDS-802-16] scanning..

Hi all,

I have some doubt in scanning and obtaining UL parameters in SS.

In 802.16-2004 STD page no 173 under,

6.3.9.4 Message flows during scanning and uplink parameter acquisition

It’s given how the BS generates UCD, DCD, DL-MAP, UL-MAP messages at period interval within the range defined in table 342 in STD and the above said message flow is described in table 114.

I will come to my question now; when the DL period starts whether the DL burst-1 should contain all the control information (UCD, DCD, DL-MAP and UL-MAP) or will it contain only DL-MAP and UL-MAP.

To be clear when every time the DL period starts, the BS should transmit all the control messages (UCD, DCD, DL-MAP and UL-MAP) in the DL burst-1 frame????

I was confused after seeing the table 114 in the STD. It’s given that clock time to send DL-MAP message comes often when compared to other control messages.

Plz clear my doubt.

Thanks in advance.
