Subject: 802.21b Broadcast Services - Call for Proposals

Dear Roger,

FYI the 802.21b TG has recently issued a call for proposals.

As explained in the IEEE 802 tutorial, the group will work on solutions to allow transferring sessions between technologies supporting 802.21 (e.g. 802.16/WiMAX) and broadcast technologies (e.g. DVB-H/NGH, DMB, MediaFLO).

I would appreciate if you let the 802.16 Working Group and WiMAX Forum know about it.

Best regards,

Juan Carlos

The IEEE 802.21b Task Group invites advanced technology proposals addressing Handovers with Broadcast Technologies.

Scope of proposals:

-          Mechanisms to help reducing the latency during handovers between heterogeneous access networks that support IEEE 802.21 and Broadcast or Downlink Only (DO) technologies

-          Mechanisms to provide information about broadcast services to heterogeneous technologies with IEEE 802.21 MIH protocol exchanges

-          Media Independent and Link Dependent Service Access Points definitions

More details are described in the following document:

Best regards,

Juan Carlos Zúñiga
