IEEE 802.16 Session #45

IEEE 802.16's Session #45 was held 25-28 September 2006 at the Mont Tremblant Congress Center in Mont Tremblant, Quebec, Canada. The session was hosted by Frank Draper, with Corporate Hosts Wavesat Inc., InterDigital Communications, and Redline Communications.

Hotels
Hotels are all located in the pedestrian village of Mont Tremblant and just a few minutes walk to the Congress Center. See the pedestrian village map, in which the unlabled Congress Center is adjacent to La Tour des Voyageurs II.

The available hotels are:

Hotel Reservations
A limited number of rooms have been reserved at special rates, until 25 August 2006 AOE 1 September 2006. After that date, reservations will be subject to availability. We strongly encourage you to book your room early hereafter as September is high fall season in Tremblant.

  2. The room options include references to the hotels, using the abbreviations that are underlined (Lodge, Tour, Hermitage, Westin) on the hotel list above.
  3. Enter your telephone number without any spaces.
  4. Before you book your hotel, please take note of the important information in the next item below, informing you that, when reserving a hotel, you will also be authorizing a charge to your credit card in the amount of the session registration fee.

Registration Fee: Charged along with Hotel Reservation Request
The registration fee is US$300 until 25 August 2006 AOE 1 September 2006 and US$400 afterwards. The registration is charged to your credit card when you reserve your hotel room for the meeting. The fee will be charged to your card prior to the session. The registration fee is refundable until 25 August 2006 only.

If (and only if) you do not plan to reserve a hotel room, you may pre-register using the special form for registration without hotel.

Wednesday Social Event
Registrants are invited to a social event on the evening of Wednesday 27 September, at no extra charge.

Flying in
You will be arriving at the Montreal Trudeau Airport (YUL). Transfer between Montreal Trudeau airport (YUL) and Mont Tremblant takes approximately 2 hours (80 miles, 130 km) by road.

We have reserved a limited number of buses to accommodate your transfer to and from Mont Tremblant at no extra cost; to see the available times and to request space, use the registration form. If you prefer, you can also make your own transfer arrangements at your own charge.

Visa
The host will provide, on request, an invitation letter for visa applications. To request a letter of invitation, download the invitation request form and submit it per the instructions in the form. Make your request as soon as possible to avoid disappointment in obtaining your visa in time for your trip.

Currency
On July 5, the exchange rate for the Canadian dollar (CAD) was US$1 = 1.1138 CAD. US dollars, as well as major credit cards, are generally accepted in Tremblant.

Weather
The average temperature in Tremblant in September is 15C (59F). You can bring a swimsuit for the hotel.

Tourist information
A Tourist Desk Office will be present at your hotel. Mont Tremblant is known as the most animated four-season resort in Canada. Check out the Mont Tremblant official web site. Bring your family!

Voltage
Canada uses 110 volt electrical systems at 60 Hz. You will need a voltage transformer/converter for your electrical appliances if they operate on a different voltage. Voltage converters will NOT be provided at the meeting.
