[802.19] Fwd: Re: [802.19] SDD Terminology ad hoc, ROUND 2
Hi All,
First, MANY THANKS to those of your who worked on this and
provided draft definitions for this effort. To the others, there
is
still time to contribute.
Here is a summary of the progress so far and a revised plan to complete
the
terminology ad hoc work before the Wednesday 17MAR PM2
session
of our next meeting in Orlando. Per the current agenda, Wed PM2
session is when
the terminology definitions will be discussed and decided.
Since our TG is quite small, anyone receiving this email may consider
himself a member of this
terminology ad hoc group. Anyone may contribute.
I have posted document
19-10-0026-02-0001-TerminologyAdHoc_Template.xls
on the document server. This is the roll up of the round one
work on defining terms.
Good news is that we have at least one definition for 60% of the terms we
have
identified for the SDD. (Note that NICT contribution 19-10/0038r0
contains new terms
which were not on the list of terms for definition by this ad hoc. These
new terms are
not included in the latest template, but may be discussed for inclusion
at the next
meeting.) The bad news is that we still have 28 terms without
definitions. These 28
terms are highlighted in yellow in the 19/0026r2 spreadsheet. Many of the
spreadsheet definitions are "invented"
here and do not address standard definitions which may be defined
elsewhere. In this regard,
many of our definitions may be in conflict with standard definitions
found elsewhere.
Here is the plan for completing the terminology definitions:
1. Please download the 19/0026r2 template and review the candidate
definitions.
Please follow the instructions in the template. Terms which
do not have any suggested
definitions will be dropped from the list of terms for submission to the
TG for decision.
2. Return your completed templates to me via email as soon as
you are finished,
but no
later than Thursday 11MAR.
3. I will aggregate the Round 2 results and post an updated and
final list of definitions
on
12MAR. On Friday 12MAR will also initiate an email straw poll
of this final list of defined terms.
The
email straw poll will close at 11PM ET on Monday 15MAR.
4. I will post the results of the straw poll before 4PM ET on
Tuesday 16MAR.
5. On Wednesday 17MAR at 4PM, we will meet to consider the results
of the straw poll
and to decide on a final list of definitions for the SDD. The author of
the preferred definition may
then consider comments from the rest of the TG to further
improve his suggested definitions.
Also, any new terms not identified at last meeting may be discussed and
decided at that time.
Please download the updated terminology template document and return to
me as soon
as you can.
Best regards,
Joe Kwak

Subject: Re: [802.19] Terminology ad hoc
Hi All.
At the January meeting, I volunteered to lead the ad hoc for 802.19.1
terminology.
Since our TG is quite small, you may each consider yourself a member of
this
terminology ad hoc group.
At the January meeting we drafted a list of 66 terms relevant to
discussions of TVWS.
We now need to adopt common definitions of these terms to facilitate
our
future discussions. Many of the terms on our list have been defined
by
many other groups.
Since it is not a major task to draft definitions for identified terms, I
believe
we can produce a recommended set of definitions for decision at the
March
meeting. This work may be done, for the most part, by individuals
or by
colleagues working together at certain large research institutes in
Japan. 8-)
Here is the plan for drafting the terminology definitions:
1. I have posted document
19-10-0026-01-0001-TerminologyAdHoc_Template.xls
on the document server. Please download this template and
decide how you
would like to contribute by providing your preferred definitions for one
or more of your
favorite terms. Please follow the instructions in the template
document to
submit your suggested definitions. Terms which do not have any
suggested
definitions may eventually be dropped from the list of terms. Return your
completed
templates to me via email as soon as you are finished, but no later
than 01MAR.
2. I will then aggregate the results and determine which terms
still have no suggested
definitions. A smaller group of ad hoc volunteers may then address
the need to
define the terms which have not been addressed by anyone.
3. I will aggregate a final list of suggested definitions for
consideration and
further decision. Before the March meeting, we will straw poll via
emails
to select a single preferred definition for each term.
4. At the March meeting we will schedule session time to finalize
the recommended
definitions. The author of the preferred definition may then consider
suggestions from the
rest of the TG to further improve his suggested definitions during the
face-to-face meeting.
Please download the terminology template document and return to me as
soon
as you can.
Best regards,
Joe Kwak
