On 6 February 2023, Norway Nkom began a consultation, entitled "Consultation on future use of free resources in the frequency band 87.5-108 MHz", that asks for public opinions on the use of spectrum between 87.5 MHz and 108 MHz.
Of particular note (as extracted from the official consultation) is the following questions that the administration would like to get feedback:
- Which services may need frequencies in the 87.5-108 MHz band?
- What makes the tape particularly suitable for the service in question?
- What capacity (bandwidth) is required for the service?
- Are there any known requirements relating to the coexistence of this and services in neighboring bands, requirements for maximum permitted interference, protection bands or the like?
- How is the availability of equipment on the market?
- Are you aware of similar applications in other countries?
- Is there a need for a national network, or one or more isolated transmitters?
- Are you familiar with international standards for current technology?

If you would like IEEE 802 LMSC to submit a response, please bring a contribution to IEEE 802.18 to review and consider approval no later than 10:30am Denver local time, Tuesday, 12 March 2024, which is the IEEE 802.18's opening meeting of the March 2024 plenary.
