Hi all,
regarding the proposed amendments for 802.11, in section
3.4 of the doc, regarding MIH Capability Information:
It is suggested to use an Extended Capability Field in
the Capability Information field.
However Bit 15 is already used in 802.11e/D13, it is called
"Immediate Block Ack" and seems to be related to QoS
concerns...
Furthermore all the 16 bits seems to be used:
For information:
11 (standard) uses B0, B1, B2, B3, B4,
11g (standard)
uses B5,B6,B7, B10 & B13
11e (draft 13 - work completed) uses B9,B11,B14 & B15,
11k (draft 3 - work in progress) uses B12,
11h (standard) uses B8.
No remaining bits...
This information can be retrieved in section
"7.3.1.4 Capability Information Field" of the 802.11 specification
(the most uptodate section 7.3.1.4 seems to be in the 11k
draft).
Maybe it is a good idea to talk to 11k to see
if there is a possibility to somehow "share" the Capability bit B12,
as it is the only TG that is stil currently a work in
progress...
Regards,
Mat.
PS: ...The info may
be wrong, as I'm not aware of everything that is going on in .11... Please feel
free to correct me if that is the
case.

updated document on L2 requirements that we can go through
today. Also 802.21 and TGu
have planned joint sessions in November meeting. With that in mind,
agenda for today’s telecon is as follows: 1] Goals for joint
session in Nov and questions that we may want to answer/discuss in joint
session: 2] Process for getting
amendments done through TGu 3] Information service
and review key goals: -
What information is on 802.21 information server? -
What kind of changes may be required in access
networks? - Do
we really need 802.21 information service supported over L2 for
802.11? 4] What are possible
locations for MIH in 802.11 network? 5] Anything
else? Best
