RE: [802.21] Tomorrow's Telecon material

Hi Daniel and Stefano,
The discussion is getting touch even if we are in the same line to
enhance the user experience of
mobile devices through the IEEE 802.21 standard. :-)

Let me try to resolve and make progress.

IEEE 802.21 aims to provide the seamless mobility among heterogeneous
networks
as we can easily guess from the representative terminology of IEEE
802.21, Media Independent Handover (MIH).

As you know, the MIH defines three services, ES, CS and IS.
Theses services are three functional components to provide the
aforementioned seamless mobility.

Until now, we thought that only ES and CS need a timely delivery
feature by the underlying transport facility.
In my understanding, the key point from Daniel is that even IS needs
this kind of feature by the underlying IS (transport) protocol to
achieve the goal,
the seamless mobility.

However, as Stefano mentioned, it is true that the current suggested
texts result a bit of mis-understanding.
So I am proposing to first amend the suggested texts like below,

From:
4.6 Service Continuity
IS protocol SHOULD allow the service continuity of mobile node's
ongoing application for both homogeneous handover and heterogeneous
handover.

To:
4.6 Timely Delivery
IS protocol SHOULD enable efficient, optimized and timely delivery of
IS information.

Then, let's discuss more in detail whether this feature is required in
terms of the delivery of IS service.

Thanks,
Junghoon
