Vivek, I think you’ve gotten yourself confused.
Both the P&Ps and 802.16 require a minimum of 75% for Approval. The 50% is
only for the return ratio. From the January 2006 LMSC P&P: To forward a
draft standard or a revised standard to the Executive Committee for approval
for Sponsor Ballot Group voting, a letter ballot (or confirmation letter
ballot) must be done first within the Working Group. A 75 percent approval of
the Working Group confirmation letter ballot is necessary with at least 50
percent of the members voting. The 75 percent figure is computed only from the
“Approve” and “Do Not Approve” votes. From:
stds-802-21@ieee.org [mailto:stds-802-21@ieee.org] On Behalf Of Gupta, Vivek G Srini, The P&P rules specify 50% and
that’s what we have adopted. 802.16 also specifies 50%. We had a lengthy discussion on this in a
telecon several weeks back. Please check the minutes of the telecon as
well. However in practice, to progress to the
Sponsor ballot stage we would need to be in the > 90% category. Best Regards -Vivek From: Srinivas.Sreemanthula@nokia.com
[mailto:Srinivas.Sreemanthula@nokia.com] Is the approval rating only
50%? This looks quite low considering this is a standards
specification... Regards, Srini 4.1.2 75% approval rate [Vivek G Gupta] should actually be 50% |
