Of course, other proposals/presentations are welcome. The motion was adopted
only to ensure that sufficient time will be allocated to discussion on tech
feasibility of 29dB budget. The motion does not exclude other topics or
proposals.
We will have 2.5 days of study group discussions and presentations. I would
like to see presentations on the following topic (non-exclusive list):
1) Multiple PMD classes. What budgets should be specified? What optical
technologies can be used?
2) 10G Serial vs. 4x2.5G parallel - pros and cons.
3) FEC for 64b/66b. What gain we can get? What overhead we will have?
4) Options for backward compatibility with 1 Gb/s EPON
5) Wavelength plan proposals
At the July meeting, we do not need to vote on proposals or necessarily
select one among the alternatives. Our goal at this time is to study all
different options. Once the task force is formed, we will begin working on a
set of baseline proposals; at that time our views will have to converge and
winning proposals will be selected.
