We set about to review the latest revisions of the 2 upstream framing proposals that we have on the table.
There was agreement that the state machines presented are for purposes of elucidation, and that at this stage the discussions should focus on the technical content of the proposals.
Glen Kramer presented his slides and there was much informative discussion. There was consensus in favor of the high-level flow diagram in slide 4 (with agreed-upon changes in terminology).
Topics that were described/discussed included:
- location of the data detector (and relying only on the sync headers of the scrambled 66b blocks for laser on / laser off)
- how to maintain a constant data rate to the gearbox during the different phases of the burst mode cycle
- how alignment of packet data in the 66b blocks affects MPCP and whether this impacts burst mode initialization
Next call will be Feb 12/13 at 1500 PST / 2300 GMT / 0800 JST. Agenda will include:
a) Jeff's slides
b) further discussion of alignment, rate, and data detector issues
Thanks to all who attended.
- Jeff
