In principle, yes is is. However, this requires that the MAC transmit packets in
order for the PHY to perform the deskew operation. This method was considered
and rejected by those the folks developing the XAUI/XGXS deskew protocol in
favor of a column Align (/A/) codes which can perform the deskew function in the
presence or absence of MAC packets.

A second order benefit of adding /A/ to the XAUI/XGXS /K/R/ Idle stream is a
reduction of the EMI effects of the Idle stream.
