Dear Ad hoc Participants,

There will be two sessions of the IEEE 802.3 NEA Ad hoc during the IEEE 802.3 Interim Session being held in Geneva, CH (week of Jan 22, 2018).

One session targeting the following PON issues will be held on Friday January 26, and will address the following:

  • Requested by Frank Effenberger - Higher rate P2P Ethernets for optical access, including the features of single-fiber working, silent start, power saving, and management.
  • Requested by Claudio DeSanti - Super-PON technologies: methods to scale fully passive optical access networks to longer reaches and to significantly higher numbers of subscribers
  • Requested by Mark Laubach - EPON 50G serial rate for 50Gb/s (1x50G) and 100Gb/s (2x50G) full duplex, symmetric, service rates.

Any individuals with questions on any of these topics are directed to contact the persons noted.

The second session, requested by Steve Carlson, is on Switch Latency in Industrial Networks.  Details regarding this session will be announced later.

Meeting information may be found at http://www.ieee802.org/3/interims/index.html You are strongly encouraged to pre-register for the meeting.  Please note that the registration desk in the ITU opens at 08h00 Monday morning for badge pickup, and that there is no badge pick-up on Sunday.

I look forward to seeing everyone in Geneva!

Best Regards,
