All,
As mentioned at the IEEE 802.3 Closing Plenary last week – Earl Parsons has requested an NEA activity on “Future SMF Needs.” Earl is looking to develop consensus on a liaison and / or white paper addressing future needs of SMF optical fiber to address signaling for IMDD Optics greater than 200 Gb/s.
(Please note I am calling this activity that name for now – it is subject to change).
As Mr. Lewis has delegated this activity to me as Vice-Chair to handle, I will be working with Mr. Parsons on scheduling the activity. Individuals interested in this event are encouraged to reach out to Earl.
As soon as we get all of the details worked out, I will forward an announcement to the NEA Reflector. (If you are not subscribed to the NEA reflector – please see https://www.ieee802.org/3/ad_hoc/ngrates/reflector.html.)
Regards,
John D’Ambrosia
Vice-Chair, IEEE 802.3 NEA Ad hoc
