Re: [802.3_NGEPON] IEEE 802.3ca Geneva Meeting - Day 3

All: It seems that in this wavelength plan proposal the 50G will be serial, regardless PAM4 or NRZ, and TDM coexist with 25G. There will be NO 2x25G =50G with channel bonding. There will be NO third 25G channel. 100G is achieved with 2x50G.  If so, it agrees with my contribution to this meeting  in dai_3ca_02a_0118  p.11.

I am at “Future Cable TV WS” in next building, so I’ll not vote but I support this wavelength plan.

PS. That means 802.3ca will end up with TWO 25GEPONs, and defers 50G to another project. Channel bonding is also deferred to 50G with 2x50G.

Regards,

Eugene

All,

I would like to suggest a motion for the wavelength plan.  This is an update of my presentation from Orlando, reflecting the wavelength shift.

  • Wavelength plan
    • Channel A: 1358±1.5nm down, 1300±10nm up
      • WDM coexistence with 10GE-PON
    • Channel B: 1335±1.5nm down, 1270±10nm up
      • WDM coexistence with G-PON
  • 25 and 50G TDM coexist on both A and B
    • 25/10G ONUs would use same upstream as 25/25
  • 100G system would be A+B

Dear Colleagues,

This serves as a friendly reminder that the 802.3ca Task Force will meet for a third day today, room 15, CICG, starting at 9 am.

Thank you,

Curtis
