Dear Task Force Participants,
With this e-mail, I'd like to announce the start of the IEEE
P802.3cs/D2.2 Increased-reach Ethernet optical subscriber access
(Super-PON) Working Group 2nd recirculation ballot.
Open date: Wednesday 30th June 2021
Close date: Wednesday 14th July 2021 23:59 AOE
As stated in the announcement below, the ballot group for this draft is
the IEEE 802.3 voting membership as of Monday 22nd March 2021. All
comments received before the close of ballot will be considered, the one
limitation however is that if you are not a member of the balloting
group, and therefore cannot cast a ballot, you cannot designate comments
as TR or ER since you cannot cast a Disapprove ballot.
Best regards,
Claudio DeSanti
Chair, IEEE P802.3cs Increased-reach Ethernet optical subscriber access (Super-PON) Task Force
----
Dear Colleagues,
This is the announcement of the electronic IEEE 802.3 Working Group 2nd
recirculation ballot on the Amendment IEEE P802.3cs Increased-reach
Ethernet optical subscriber access (Super-PON). Remember that voting, as
well as attendance, is a requirement to maintain your IEEE 802.3 member
(voter) status <
http://ieee802.org/3/rules/member.html#DOT3>.
Instructions for accessing the draft, casting your ballot and
submitting comments follow this announcement. Please review the
commenting instructions below to ensure you are using the most up to
date tools.
The ballot group for this draft is the IEEE 802.3 voting membership as of Monday 22nd March 2021.
Because this is a recirculation ballot, YOU ONLY NEED TO CAST A BALLOT
IF YOU WISH TO CHANGE YOUR VOTE FROM THAT WHICH WAS RECORDED ON THE
INITIAL BALLOT OR LAST RECIRCULATION. If you voted previously and your
vote has not changed, the last ballot cast will be carried over to this
ballot and you do not need to cast a new ballot.
BALLOT SCOPE:
During this IEEE 802.3 Working Group 2nd recirculation ballot, the scope
of the ballot is the substantive changes between IEEE P802.3cs/D2.1 and
IEEE P802.3cs/D2.2 and the unsatisfied negative comments.
CRITERIA FOR STANDARDS DEVELOPMENT:
One of the responsibilities as a balloter is to ensure that draft is
consistent with the criteria for standards development (CSD) responses
which are available at <
https://mentor.ieee.org/802-ec/dcn/18/ec-18-0246-00-ACSD-p802-3cs.pdf>. An Approve vote indicates your agreement that the draft is consistent with the CSD responses.
BALLOT OPEN:
Wednesday 30th June 2021
BALLOT CLOSE:
Wednesday 14th July 2021 23:59 AOE
The Project Authorization Request for this Amendment is available at <
https://ieee802.org/3/cs/P802_3cs_PAR.pdf> and includes the following:
TITLE:
Standard for Ethernet Amendment: Amendment: Physical Layers and
management parameters for increased-reach point-to-multipoint Ethernet
optical subscriber access (Super-PON)
SCOPE OF PROJECT:
This amendment adds physical layer specifications and management
parameters for optical subscriber access supporting point-to-multipoint
operations using wavelength division multiplexing over an
increased-reach (up to at least 50 km) passive optical network (PON).
NEED FOR THE PROJECT:
: This project is needed to increase the coverage and reach of PONs to
serve more subscribers at a greater distance from the Optical Line
Terminal (OLT) location.
Thank you for your participation in this ballot and careful review of the draft.

1. Prepare your comments in one of the following three ways. You are
STRONGLY REQUESTED to use the spreadsheet. A comment entry tutorial is
available at:
<
http://ieee802.org/3/ballots/p802d3_comment_entry_tutorial_v1p0.pdf>
a. Access the comment spreadsheet at the URL:
<

b. Access the comment tool at the URL:
<
http://www.ieee802.org/3/WG_tools/filemaker/Generic_Commenting_Tool_FM.zip>
To use the tool, extract all components into a folder and do not move
any component from that folder as this will cause the executable to not
work correctly. The tool is:
Comment_Tool_Generic_Solution.exe
c. To submit comments in text (ASCII) form, please use the form below.
This will make it possible for the editor to properly record and track
all submissions. Make as many copies of the template as necessary and
submit as an ASCII text file or as part of your e-mail.
PLEASE NOTE: The ASCII method involves a manual transcription, hence you
are recommended to check your comments to ensure accurate transcription
when the comment file is made available. Please use one of the comment
tools above if possible.
