[EFM] Portland Meeting Announcement and Call For Presentations
Dear members of the IEEE 802.3 EFM Study Group,
Our next meeting will take place on July 10-12 at the Downtown
Marriot in Portland, OR. The meeting will start at 8:30 am on
Tuesday July 10th. We will conclude at noon on Thursday July 12th.
Also note that we have requested a tutorial slot on Monday night,
July 9th. A group of us will be conducting a tutorial on EFM for the
rest of the IEEE 802 LMSC membership in order to familiarize them
with our project.
We plan to ask for approval of our PAR and 5 Criteria documents during
this week. The first decision is in the hands of the 802.3 WG, where we
will ask for approval on Thursday afternoon, July 12th. The second
decision is in the hands of the IEEE 802 SEC, which meets Friday afternoon,
July 13th. This is a critical step in the standards development process.
Please see the meeting announcement at:
http://www.ieee802.org/meeting/index.htm
If you haven't made your hotel reservation yet, please do so now.
Also, please remember that since this meeting takes place during
an IEEE 802 plenary week, you must register to attend the IEEE 802
meeting. Registration instructions can be found at the link above.
You get a break on the registration fee if you pre-register for the
meeting by June 27th.
If you wish to make a presentation at the meeting, you must send me
the following information no later than Monday, July 2nd:
i. The presenter's name
ii. The presentation title
iii. The estimated time required
iv. A brief synopsis of the material (a couple of sentences)
V. A PDF COPY OF THE PRESENTATION FILE
Presentations should address:
1) Refinements of or additions to the Objectives that the EFM study group
has identified for the project.
2) Additional presentations which support the 5 Criteria. We assigned
several action items to groups at the St. Louis meeting, and top priority
will be given to hearing the responses from those groups.
I *strongly* encourage the development of presentations with
multiple co-sponsors. Jointly sponsored presentations
*will get preferential treatment* in the allocation of time slots
on our agenda.
I look forward to seeing you in Portland!

Chair, IEEE 802.3 EFM Study Group
