Re: [HSSG] Dispersion and Skew Spreadsheet

Drew,

As we discussed after the Knoxville meeting, I have attached a zip file containing a Word document explaining the approach that I have used to generate worst case relative delay figures for G.652 and G.655 fibres.

Also included in the zip file is the Excel spreadsheet that I used to generate the figures.

Regards,

Pete Anslow

Subject: [HSSG] Dispersion and Skew Spreadsheet

During my last presentation to the HSSG last week I presented a spreadsheet calculating skew between various wavelengths. I have attached that here. As I said at the meeting, this is a first approximation that should be in the right ballpark but there are likely to be several problems with it. Pete Anslow (Nortel) volunteered to take a first pass at improvements by using the equations for fiber dispersion in the ITU standards that he co-authored. Robert Lingle (OFS) also volunteered to take a look from the perspective of a fiber manufacturer. It would be great to have other fiber manufacturers and other companies do the same.
