[802.3BA] 40G/100G extended reach (>100m) over parallel multimode fiber
Dear 802.3ba colleagues,
during the Munich interim Jack Jewell presented a proposal to extend the reach over parallel MMF (http://www.ieee802.org/3/ba/public/may08/jewell_01_0508.pdf).
Although Jack's proposal mainly focuses on tightening the transmitter specification and on leveraging the performance of OM4 fibers, it also opens up to many alternative IC-based methods to extend the reach of 40G/100G over parallel MMF.
In order to accelerate consensus building around a technical proposal, an Ad-Hoc has been formed to study the various options and select a technical proposal for the July meeting.
Either John Petrilla or myself will chair the Ad-Hoc conference calls (based on our availability).
We will kick-off next Friday May 23 at 8.30 PT. Below are the bridge details.
Presentations are due 24 hours before the meeting to give sufficient time to post them.
Anyone wishing to present, please follow the guidelines described on the Procedure for Presenters web page:
http://www.ieee802.org/3/hssg/public/presentproc.html
If you are planning to participate to the teleconference please take a moment to read the IEEE patent policy available here: http://standards.ieee.org/board/pat/pat-slideset.ppt.
Thanks,
Alessandro
ps
The conference call notice will also be posted on the Ad-Hoc web page when available.
