Hi all, I have few issues with the problem and
solution suggested in the above presentation. 1. How often a PD is moved from a port to other
port? According the experience
in my environment, the level of changes are low. The major part of installation
done by the IT manager and configure by him. If a change is required
it is easy and quick service to give and handle. Hence, turning off the
af-endspan port is valid solution which is not required added cost and complexity
to the standard. I am planning to check
how it is in other organization however if swapping PDs is seldom required or
it is not the usual case then I don’t care to call IT manager and not mandate
additional hardware on the PSE. 2. Regarding the suggested solution: Adding a resistor +
switch is more complex issue then shown. The PSE on alternative
B required to drive the power to the at PD while disabling the alternative A
path. If the PSE is
environment B PSE then in order to keep isolation between the twp channels the
cost is to high to bare. If it is environment A
then it is the same ground which is easier but it required added cost of a
switch (80-100V technology) with very low leakage or very high impedance >>2M
which is an issue during detection and ac disconnect operation. Those who has
experience in designing af chips probably understand this problems and
sensitivity. 3. I believe that the first valid question
as presented in slide 6 "if we would happy ..etc" is the first one
for us to answer prior to add additional requirements followed by additional
hardware to the PSE which may be on other "ground" or common point. I will be happy for plug and play solution
if it cost nothing and not affecting current experience and implementations of
detection and ac-disconnect hardware and software. Yair From: owner-stds-802-3-poep@xxxxxxxx

Behalf Of Guys, Here is another update, in case we want to
go over it at the classification adhoc tomorrow morning. I made quite a
few improvements. Steve |
