DESCRIPTION:Hello\,\NThe Vport ad hoc has the following meeting schedule to
discuss the dynamic port voltage requirements. This meeting will be used
to review data and constraints\, and develop new constrains for the propos
ed IEEE 802.3at standard.\NThis effort would benefit from additional data
on PSE transient response and PD di/dt demands (see below).\NThanks\,\NFre
d Schindler\NTechnical Leader\NCISCO Systems\N170 West Tasman Drive\NM/S S
J-19-3\NSan Jose\, CA 95134-1706\NTel. (408) 525-9859\N\N\N\N\NHello\,\NTh
e IEEE 802.3at Vport ad hoc needs your help collecting data that will help
establish new transient constrains on the MDI. Please forward this email
to system designers within your companies that will help with this effort.
If more details are required\, they can contact me directly. We would app
reciate getting this data before the end of December.\NThanks\,\NFred Schi

eee.org/groups/802/3/at/public/nov06/schindler_1_1106.pdf\NSummary\N- The
static Vport voltage is within a 50 to 57 VDC range.\N- Spreadsheet v10 is
the most recent published version (September). See the “PD PSE data”
for example data submissions.\N- We are investigating keeping the PD volta
ge specification as is when accommodating transient conditions.\N- The cha
nnel model used does not represent a real world system but the task force
believes errors are negligible.\N- There are no di/dt PD constraints in th
e IEEE 802.3 specification.\NGoals\N- Place a minimum number of constraint
s on the system in order to ensure system interoperability.\N- We expect t
o produce a PD di/dt constraint.\N- We expect to produce a PSE voltage dro
op constraint (below the static port voltage for a specific duration).\NPl
ease send scope images captured and your system setup details.\NPD data re
quired\NPlease use a short cable to connect the PD to a low output impedan
ce supply for your tests. Operate the PD in modes you expect higher di/dt
rates. We also need data for PD DC-DCs. Load the output and measure the Et
hernet line side to capture the worst-case data. We expect DC-DC data to p
rovide the most reliable worst-case data.\N- A model number (so that other
s can repeat the experiment). Data can be kept anonymous. Please state you
r preference.\N- di/dt values for a specific duration.\N- Does the PD ever
cross Icut or Ilim? Please provide details if this does occur.\N- How doe
s the PD respond to MDI voltage changes (up/down within spec.)? ex/ some P
Ds turnoff when the supply droops to fast. Some draw more di/dt when the v
oltage is increased.\NPSE data required\NTransients are expected for load
changes (assume all PD transition to a new load level)\, or supply replace
ment events (backup of a failing supply).\N- A model number (so that other
s can repeat the experiment). Data can be kept anonymous. Please state you
r preference.\N- dv/dt and duration.\N- Details on the condition causing t
he transient. Ex/ load change\N\N_________________________________________
