[8023-POEP] Classification Ad Hoc: NO MEETING 9/5/07
All,
There was a highly successful Classification Ad Hoc meeting on 8/29/07 in
which we addressed all items. For this reason, there WILL NOT be a
meeting on 9/5/07 as originally planned.
In summary we will propose the following at the Seoul meeting:
------------------------------------------------------
The Type 2 PD behavior during the Mark State should be
- 0.25mA < Ipd < 2mA (As before)
- PD should present an invalid signature as defined by table 33-9.
(New)
(FYI, table 33-9 says Rsig<12Kohm or Rsig>45Kohm
or Rsig > 10uF)
------------------------------------------------------
2-Event Timing for Mark Event 2:
IS: 6-12ms
SHOULD BE: 6ms min (no max)
The maximum time requirement is removed because it otherwise forces the
port turn on very quickly. This does not give a system much time to
make a decision whether or not the system desires to power the PD.
By only having a minimum 2nd Mark timing spec, maximum timing is defined
by Tpon (33.2.8.13, 400ms after valid detection complete)
------------------------------------------------------
Class Event 3
Required operation is confusing
Two changes will be made to clarify the operation.
A note will be added to the PD state diagram that reads something
like:
"Class Event 3 exists in order to have a defined behavior in case a
Type 2 PD is brought into the classification range repeatedly. In a
typical power-on event, the port voltage will pass through the Class
Event 3 range in less than 1ms. The Type 2 PD may not respond with
the defined 40mA classification current. This is compliant
operation because PDs are allocated up to 5ms for classification current
to reach steady state."
Also, 3rd Class timing will be added to the timing table. Currently
it does not exist. The entry will be something like:
3rd Class
Event
0mS min 30mS
