Re: [RE] Nov 4 IEEE P1796 Resilient backplane ring (RBR) meeting

Are we having another F2F meeting in the bay area before 802 meeting
this month? If not, do we have a schedule for the meeting, so as to know
what time slots we have?

This is the first meeting of the IEEE P1796 Working Group.
Due to its commonality with other activities, this message
has been sent to related groups. To reduce unwanted emails,
further announcements will be limited the RBR reflector.

For background, or to sign up for the reflector, see:
  http://grouper.ieee.org/groups/msc/MSC_RBR/info.html

A short reminder of the upcoming meeting, with the
teleconferencing details.

November 4, 2004
2:00 pm - 7:00 pm, Pacific time
Conference room 103

Fenwick & West LLP
801 California Street
Mountain View, CA

Date: Thursday, November 04, 2004
Start Time: 2:30 p.m. Pacific Std Time
End Time: 5:25 p.m. Pacific Std Time
Dial-in Number: 1-702-835-5000 (Las Vegas, Nevada)
Participant Access Code: 179604
No meeting fees (so please thank our hosts).

I have arranged the teleconference to start after we have
organized. Given the limited free teleconference call, we
will try to deal with the interests of our teleconferenced
attendees first.

Current topics include:
  1) Word processor downselection
  2) Requirements presentations
  3) Lossless transmission
     a) 802.3 CM status presentation
     b) Acknowledged-twice, a proposal
  4) Low latency classA transmissions
     a) 802.3 RE status presentation
     b) Quasi-synchronous, a proposal

The meeting time allows same-day in-and-out flights,
while missing the more congested meeting-room lunchtime
crowds.

The nearby Castro street is full of restaurants, so you may
want to arrive/park early and have lunch before the meeting
begins.

The purpose of this kickoff meeting is to share background
information, in the form of application requirements and
related specifications/standards.

Contributors are requested to provide presentation summaries
(author, title, time) one week before the meeting. Please
send these to:
  dvj@alum.mit.edu
