John, your suggestion is fine with me.

All

Looking at comments from Ben / George – I see how the wording is participating.

It is not that the architecture is holistic – it is that the .3df task force is taking a holistic approach to the development of the architecture, which essentially means we are looking at a lot of things simultaneously while considering the architecture.

So what is probably the more correct language is

IEEE P802.3df™ Defines Architecture Holistically to Achieve 800 Gb/s and 1.6 Tb/s Ethernet

Thoughts?

David – just saw that 800 GB/s needs to be changed to 800 Gb/s

It makes me wonder, a "Holistic Architectual Approach" to what?   Reading the scope of the approved project it is hard to imagine how this title relates to the scope of the IEEE P802.3df PAR.

The use of "Holistic" though works very well as a hook - I'm intrigued and will surely read the blog if I can find it! It would be a shame if I came away from the experience thinking I'd been fooled into it by a misleading title.

Just a suggestion FWIW.

Ben

David - I have one minor comment -
The text of the blog is fine, and is all forward looking.  However, the headline reads like it is announcing a milestone that has been done.  Perhaps instead of “ IEEE P802.3dfTM Defines a Holistic Architectural Approach” we should say “ IEEE P802.3dfTM to Define a Holistic Architectural Approach” so that the headline reflects the forward-looking nature of the work.

The draft blog post is available at <https://mentor.ieee.org/802-ec/dcn/21/ec-21-0314-00-00EC-ieee-p802-3df-beyond-standards-blog-post.pdf>. Since the development of this blog post was at the request of the Task Force Chair and myself, I'll be seeking IEEE 802 EC approval of the blog post during the Tuesday 4 January 2022 IEEE 802 EC teleconference.
