Re: [802SEC] +++ ECM (early close) +++ ballot on Liaison to ISO/IEC JTC1/SC6 Re: PWI for Deterministic Wireless Industrial Network Ballot opens 2022-01-25

Dorothy – I will not object to the change.

I would be happier with the original sentence, because I think it is a more direct statement, but am not opposed to leaving the sentence out.  It comes near then end and the preceding paragraph raises the point, albeit, in a softer manner.

I felt though that it was important to point out that particularly in industrial networking, ‘too many standards that do the same thing’ is becoming an issue, and that a stronger, more direct request to cooperate rather than make YAWS (yet another wireless standard) bore consideration…

Thank you, Glenn.

We can debate (per the comment from George) whether removal of the offending sentence is editorial or more than editorial.

For the purposes of this motion, I will consider the changes editorial, and delete the indicated sentence in the transmitted version.

It appears that there is significant support so far for sending the liaison.

I ask that EC members who have not yet voted, please do so, as the deadline to submit to JTC1 is 11:59pm ET on 31 Jan 2022.

Tally to date:

Approve: Marks, Rosdahl, Parsons, [Zimmermann] Stanley, [Holcomb], Godfrey

Disapprove:

Abstain:

George, Jay - are you able to maintain your "Approve" with the sentence deleted?

Thanks all -

Dorothy

Thanks Dorothy,

I support your resolution of deleting the sentence to address Roger’s concern.

In addition, I would request that the authors block and the abstract (including the revision listing) are editorially removed before this is sent as a liaison to SC6.

Given these are editorial changes, I approve.

Cheers,

Glenn.
