Kaiying, I still believe that the concept that the Soft AP MLD (might) use the same antenna connectors as a set of non-AP STAs is not relevant to the standard, since this is talking about different instantiations of the device into active MLD(s). Virtually every AP MLD ever created will have the possibility of using the antenna connectors as a non-AP MLD in some mode, at some time, through special firmware loads/diagnostics/etc. That is not a distinguishing/distinguishable attribute. I believe the concept we are after here is that only some special-case MLDs are ‘allowed’ to be non-STR, for example if they are battery powered, or mobile(?). Perhaps we should just focus on that, with something like:
Further, the MIB attribute looks more like a capability than an activation. I think it should be a “dot1…Implemented” attribute. Then, in the body text (because it is unusual and odd to list the MIB attributes in the definition), say “An AP MLD that has limited capabilities shall set dot11SoftAPMLDImplemented to true.” We could expand upon the example cases where this attribute is appropriate/useful, as well, if there are other example beyond just “battery-powered”. Thanks. Mark From: Kaiying Lu <Kaiying.Lu@xxxxxxxxxxxx> Sorry for the confusion on subject of the email. From: Kaiying Lu Hi all, I have uploaded rev10. This version addresses the following comments: 1. Soft AP MLD is one type of AP MLD that is in a batter powered device; 2. Soft AP MLD uses the same antenna connectors (RF chains) as a set of Non-AP STAs with/without non-AP MLD functionality. https://mentor.ieee.org/802.11/dcn/20/11-20-1407-10-00be-pdt-mac-mlo-soft-ap-mld-operation.docx Regards, Kaiying *********** MEDIATEK Confidentiality Notice *********** The information contained in this e-mail message (including any attachments) may be confidential, proprietary, privileged, or otherwise exempt from disclosure under applicable laws.
