You bring back a very, very old argument. Research
the archives of this listservice and you will find it many times, I am sure.
Your opinion is very valid. However, there are some equally, perhaps even
slightly more compelling reasons in favor of the strategy adopted in the
standard (this is not unique to the 16e mobility standard; this is intrinsic to
the 802.16-2004 and previous iteration standards). But the point is mute; the
issue decided. We struggled over this for over two years--and then revisited it
on numerous occasions when individuals such as yourself again reminded us of the
disadvantages. But the 802.16-2004 standard was approved for publication over a
year ago, so I don't think we are going back there. You can always re-voice your
disagreement during some future revision of the standard ;-)

Relationship between SFID and
unicast transport CID is unitary (see 6.3.1.1 PMP, page 14, line 25, in
P80216/Cor1D4 which states: 'When admitted or active, service flows are
uniquely associated with transport connections.'). A unicast transport CID
cannot have more than one SFID assigned to it. Note that I am distinguishing
unicast CIDs from multicast CIDs (see Table 345 in P80216e/D10).
Multicast CIDs can have multiple SFIDs assigned to them (in the downlink only,
of course).
