Dear
all,
Here are some questions about multicast or broadcast polling, would you be kindly
to check and comment?
When a BS performs multicast or broadcast polling, the SSs that belong to the polled group have to apply the contention resolution algorithms to select the slot in which to transmit the bandwidth request. Does an SS perform contention resolution on a per SS basis or on a per connection basis? The standard in 6.3.8 seems to be confusing. In the first paragraph, it says “it makes decisions on a per CID basis”, but then it presents examples using “the SS’s backoff window” not “the connection’s backoff window”. The 802.16 standard tells that an SS may be included in more
than one multicast polling groups. If an SS perform contention resolution on a
per connection basis, can each of its service flow belong to those multicast
polling groups simultaneously so that each service flow can make use of the
transmission opportunities in many groups?
